No Cross-Play for Apex Legends at Launch

Although Apex Legends is out now for PC, Xbox One and PS4, the game won’t feature cross-play anytime soon. Respawn design director Mackey McCandlish told VG247 that their team is definitely interested in cross-play, even calling it an “opportunity”, but it seems that their priority was to get the game launched first. Its biggest competitor in the battle royale space, Fortnite, offers cross-play across multiple devices, so it’s something Respawn will want to achieve to draw in more players.


Steam’s Lunar New Year Sale Rewards Token that Grant Additional Savings

Steam’s Lunar New Year Sale is live and it features some special event tokens that could get you additional savings or other digital goodies. A New Threat Arises in The Division 2’s Endgame

One of the biggest complaints about The Division was its endgame, or lack thereof. This is why Ubisoft focused on the endgame for the sequel. As soon as players finish the campaign and reach the endgame, a new faction called the Black Tusk appears. These new enemies roam Washington D.C. equipped with high-tech weaponry and state-of-the-art gadgets rivaling those of The Division’s. Thankfully, players will be able to unlock specializations and gear up with new powerful weapons to take on the new threat.


The Walking Dead will get Final Episode and Physical Editions come March 26th

Just a few months ago, it looked as if we would never see how Telltale’s The Walking Dead would end. Fast forward to today and Skybound Games has now announced that the last episode of The Final Season will be launching on March 26th for PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Switch. Skybound also announced that physical editions of The Walking Dead will be launching side-by-side with the final episode for consoles. These will be available at major retailers and also at Skybound’s online storefront.


Human Fall Flat has Sold Over 5 Million Units

Curve Digital and No Brakes Games’ puzzle platformer Human: Fall Flat reached 5 million units sold since its release in 2016. The game had been one of the best selling games in Japan and is also part of Steam’s list for “The Best of 2018” games. It also has a spot in Steam’s “Top Sellers” as well as in the “Most Played” list. To commemorate this magnificent feat, four new skins are made available for the game which are: the Three Little Pigs, a Cowboy, a Rodeo Clown, and a Hiker.


Conqueror’s Blade Holding Closed Beta Starting this Week

1 million unique players have already played Respawn’s surprise battle royale Apex Legends in just 8 hours since it officially launched. This was confirmed by Respawn’s CEO Vince Zampella over at Twitter. The game’s popularity is partly thanks to influencers such as Shroud and Dr.Disrespect who were invited to give the game a try. It is currently the most popular game on Twitch. The game is still a bit glitchy, though, but that isn’t a surprise considering how ambitious the game is.


Nioh Sells Over 2.5 Million Units

Team Ninja’s Nioh has reached a huge sales milestone! Koei Tecmo announced that the action RPG has sold over 2.5 million units worldwide. This figure includes sales across PC and PlayStation 4. The announcement of this milestone also coincides with the game’s second anniversary. The publisher also added that they are continuing work on Nioh 2, however a release date is not available yet.


Overcooked 2 Celebrates Lunar New Year with a Survival Mode

Overcooked 2 celebrates the Lunar New Year with a free update! This update not only adds New Year festivities to the game, but also a brand new mode. The update is now available and it brings 7 new kitchens, dragon and pig chefs, and of course new recipes. The new mode is Survival Mode, and as its name suggests, chefs must make the most number of dishes as they possibly can within an allotted time. Each dish they serve will merit them with additional seconds. Survival Mode is available in all levels.


Anthem Demo Exceeds EA’s Expectations, Full Version to Include Fixes and Improvements

Although it had a rocky VIP demo run, Anthem’s demo made EA and BioWare quite pleased, and even exceeded their expectations. The recently concluded public demo was a success as no considerable amount of issues emerged during the run. On this note, BioWare promises to bring “many updates and improvements” to the game when it launches. The developer further added that they are now on the road to finalizing the game in preparation for its launch on February 15th for EA and Origin Access Premier members, and on February 22nd for everyone else.


Survival Horror Game Chernobylite Revealed

The Farm 51, the creators of games like World War 3 and Get Even, has announced a new game – the survival, horror game Chernobylite. It is slated to launch for PC, while it also planned to be released on Xbox One. Chernobylite will tell a story of “conspiracy, horror, survival, love, and obsession in a form of a video game,” as its description says. It is set in Chernobyl where the nuclear catastrophe started. Players will expect a “deep, emotional story, engaging survival and horror experience” set in the beautifully designed recreation of Chernobyl.


The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 Out Now on the Switch

The Point-and-click game The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 has finally headed to the Nintendo Switch, THQ Nordic has announced through a press release. The game launched back in 2015 for PC, and was then released to consoles in September of the same year, while a Wii U version launched in 2016. The game features four characters: Wilbur, Ivo, Nate and Critter. Players will also enjoy its humorous story packed with references to Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and even World of Warcraft, to name a few.


Respawn Confirms Cross-Play for Apex Legends

Respawn’s Lead Producer Drew McCoy has confirmed that cross-platform play will be available in their newly-released battle royale game Apex Legends. Cross-play support is currently still in the works, and will be available to players sometime in the future. But having cross-play doesn’t mean cross-progression and cross-purchasing will be available as well. McCoy said that this won’t be possible due to “the way systems were set up early on.” Apex Legends is free-to-play and is available via Origin for PC, and on Xbox One and PS4.

Kingdom Hearts 3 by Square Enix is the fastest-selling game in the history of the series, selling about 5 million copies worldwide. CEO Andrew Wilson announced during EA’s fiscal earnings that Battlefield 5 was not able to meet their sales expectations. Wilson said the game’s underperformance is due to several factors like the month-long delay in the game’s release which pushed the game into releasing into a busier month. Plus the prioritization of the single-player campaign over the battle royale mode is another reason. The game did sell 7.3 million, but is short 1 million from the expected sales.


Space War Arena Launches on Switch Next Week

Space War Arena is launching exclusively on the Nintendo Switch next week. This real-time strategy action game will be available starting February 14th. Space War Arena pays homage to the original Spacewar released in the 1960’s. Players will expect epic space battles with deep strategic elements. There’s also deck building with over 30 types of units. The game also offers solo campaign that pits players “against a variety of configurations and scenarios.”


Sea of Thieves Players Can Invite 3 Friends to Play for Free for a Limited Time

Sea of Thieves has a new promotion where players will be able to invite their friends to play the game for free. This promotion will start on February 6th and will run up until the 13th. This is available for the game on PC and Xbox One. An Xbox One Game Pass subscription is needed. The friends that will receive the codes will be able to download the game but an Xbox Live membership is needed. Along with this promotion is a 35% off discount for the game which will be available up until February 27th only.


Kabal, D’Vorah Join Mortal Kobat 11’s Roster

Two characters are returning and will be joining Mortal Kombat 11’s roster. First is Kabal who first appeared in the 1995 game Mortal Kombat 3. He skipped Mortal Kombat X, which is the most recent game released in the franchise. Kabal will come with his signature dual hooked blades as well as his popular moves like the Raging Flash and Buzzsaw. The next one is the insectoid fighter D’vorah from Mortal Kombat X. Both of them will be available once the game launches on April 23rd.


More Titanfall Will Be Coming This Year, According to Respawn

After Respawn surprised the gaming world with the launch of its battle royale Apex Legends, fans have been asking whether Titanfall is really not going to happen this year. The developer said that yes, Titanfall 3 is not in the works, however, a premium Titanfall game will be launching within this year, according to EA CEO Andrew Wilson. Wilson did not go into detail about this, so we’ll have to stay tuned as they reveal more details.


Phoenix Point Delayed

Phoenix Point, the X-com-like strategy game from Julian Gollop, will be delayed. Creative director Julian Gollop said that they need the extra time to test and polish the gameplay “much more extensively.” He added that he understands some people may be disappointed with the delay, and he was really sorry about it. The game will now be released sometime in September this year.


HITMAN: The Complete First Season is Free with PS Plus

IO Interactive has announced that Hitman: The Complete First Season will be free for PlayStation Plus members for the month of February! The Complete First Season features all the locations in Season One, as well as episodes “from the Prologue, Paris, Sapienza, Marrakesh, Bangkok, Colorado, and Hokkaido.” This collection also includes all Challenges, Opportunities, Escalation Contracts, and Featured Contracts.
